The Far Rockaways, an exposed peninsula of NYC, was one of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy, which destroyed many businesses and displaced hundreds of families. The Working World has helped form Worker-Owned Rockaway Co-operatives (WORCs), and is currently developing five worker-owned businesses: a construction company, a bakery, a health food store, an entertainment collective, and a pupuseria.
