Scaling Inter-Cooperation Across Canada
[Editor's note: the speaker experiences some technical difficulties in the middle of the presentation from 16:28-18:37, which can be safely skipped past.]
This month's Co-op Conversation featured Olivia Champagne and her talk, "Introducing Coops4Coops: Scaling Inter-Cooperation Across Canada". Coops4Coops is a growing, embeddable digital directory that connects co-operatives offering services to other co-operatives across Canada. Built by and for the co-operative movement, the platform addresses a persistent challenge in our sector: the fragmentation and regional silos that limit inter-cooperation and leader co-operatives to default to non-cooperative suppliers. This session will explore: why the platform was created and the problem it solves in the Canadian co-op landscape; how the embeddable tool works, including data transparency, customization options, and network-strengthening features for provincial associations; and what’s next for scaling Coops4Coops and how your organization can get involved as a host or listed co-operative.
About our Speaker:
Olivia Champagne is the Strategy Lead at Coops4coops and the General Coordinator at SEIZE, a Montreal-based cooperative incubator advancing the solidarity economy through grassroots organizing, education, and shared infrastructure projects. She co-leads Coops4Coops alongside Tech Lead, Malcolm McClintock, stewarding its development, outreach, and partnerships with cooperative associations across Canada. Olivia’s work bridges cooperative governance, financial management, and sector-wide collaboration, with a focus on building resilient networks that center cooperative values.
As these events consists of a presentation, a broad conversation, and small group conversations, for the recording, only the presentation and broad conversation are captured.
