Catalyzing worker co-ops & the solidarity economy

Value Chains + Ecosystems

This past May, CEANYC joined the NYC Network of Worker Cooperatives (NYCNOWC) and the Urban Homesteading Assistance Board (UHAB) to host the first in a series of events called Rebuilding with Our Powers Combined, giving a chance to the dozens of attendees from across sectors to learn about each other’s work and strategize around future collaborations.

In case you missed it, below are two event highlights.

In this first clip, CEANYC’s Ali Issa and Sheryll Durrant break down the term “solidarity economy value-chain.” Highlighting the unique power and autonomy that these value chains foster, they zoom-in on three present day examples in NYC: a burgeoning food (justice) chain in Central Brooklyn, a credit union/housing coop/CSA/garden loop in the Northwest Bronx, and finally a very coop networked – and just-launched! – city-wide driver-owned ride-hailing platform.
