Finger pointing is rife at the Willy Street Co-op after union backers at the co-op's two stores pulled the plug on a union vote, scheduled to begin Tuesday, and some workers say the issue, simmering for nearly three months, is taking its toll.
"It's obviously affecting a lot of us in ways that aren’t too fun," said eastside co-op produce worker Wayde Lawler.
Union organizers say they cancelled the vote because co-op management violated labor laws. They plan to file charges with the National Labor Relations Board.
Employees opposed to the union say the union has used misleading and intimidating tactics.
Co-op management, meanwhile, says it’s ready to work with whatever the employees decide.
