Cecilia Muñoz Cancela’s report for the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy (ICDE) explores how technological innovation, rooted in participatory and solidarity-driven values, can incubate new narratives in the social and solidarity economy. Centered on Argentina’s Chasqui Project, an e-commerce platform for socially and cooperatively produced goods, the report examines the project’s decade-long development as a collaborative endeavor between public universities, tech cooperatives, and grassroots organizations. Ultimately, Chasqui emerges as a case study of socio-technical innovation that challenges market-centric logics and suggests new pathways for democratizing digital infrastructure in the Global South.
